For this very reason, make every effort to add to your faith goodness; and to goodness, knowledge; and to knowledge, self-control; and to self-control, perseverance; and to perseverance, godliness; and to godliness, brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness, love (2 Peter 1:5-7)

Finally, and above all other traits, we are to add to our faith – love. If you want to be like God, you must achieve love in all things. The apostle John wrote: God is love. Whoever lives in love lives in God, and God in him (1 John 4:16). How important is it for you to have God live in you? Do you think that you could then handle any and every situation you come upon? Do you think you would have better relationships with those you come in contact with, have a better influence on others, and have the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus? (Phil 4:7).

It is beyond all understanding to have great relationships, influence others in the right way, and to have the peace of God dwell in you. Do you think that it is impossible to have this kind of life? Then grow more in love with God and He will fill your heart and mind with His traits. The more you are filled with the essence of God’s Spirit; the more your life with reflect God to others. The more you reflect God to others; the more you feel peace in your life. The more you have peace in your life; the greater your relationships will be. These three things are a cycle that makes you a better person around others and have a stronger inner person within yourself. If you have those two things plus a stronger love for God you are ever-closer to being complete.

Love is at the root and heart of being complete. To have love in your heart for God and others is to have your cup run over – abundant blessings in your life that spill over to others because your life is so full of God’s love. Love is to be shared, the more you share, the more it comes back to you. You are constantly overflowing with love. A pure love that is like God that builds others up and makes you complete in life. To be complete in life is to have all the places you are lacking be filled. Fill those deficient places with God’s love, strengthen the other parts with the same and enjoy allowing God’s love to live in you.

Love you all, Doug
